Pottery
Having enjoyed making things from clay for many years, I am now concentrating on making thrown stoneware functional pottery. We moved to Cornwall in the summer of 2018, and I now have a studio and my own kiln. Being inspired by the magnificent coastline here, I like to use coloured glazes that reflect the landscape, often using a shell decorative motif on handles. I also make hand coiled larger French style pots and vases.
My training was mainly undertaken in the Cotswolds where I had great tuition from Chris White in Tetbury, John West from Lansdown Pottery, and Tom Knowles Jackson at the Clay Loft. I also spent a few days on a throwing course at The Leach Pottery in St Ives which was very inspiring. I have taken great knowledge from them all and am continuing to grow and explore the world of ceramics.
Over the past year I have been creating a selection of Raku fired miniature cottages, houses, churches and engine houses from Cornish tin mines. These little pieces of joy are all individual and unique. You can make your collection into a miniature village.
